A morally questionable character with views and opinions that are just as questionable, he is a tough man who does not hesitate to kill. In Felix, we have a genuine sci-fi superhero, and we share with him some of his worst and darkest moments. Armor is a military science fiction novel by John Steakley. For all his victories, Felix’ reality remains the same: Dialogue gets a bit trite at times, especially the internal monologue of Felix who revels in melodrama, female characters exist mostly to hop into bed with the closest male characters, and the pace is clunky with two storylines that could have been more skillfully interwoven.

Armor is an engaging, If at times gruelling, story of what war can do to a soldier, of how to survive a person can be forced to strip away almost everything that makes them a person as we know them, instead becoming a creature of war- a relentless, unthinking killing machine comprised purely of instinct and quick reactions.


Then suddenly we leave Felix, jump several years bu the future, and join up with Jack Crow, a notorious criminal who has escaped from prison and partnered with a space bt. Not for this planet. Before we come up with any ideas of our own about what could and should be, I want to hear it from someone who knew him well what he would have wanted. He introduces the idea of silver bullets to his squad and recruits an old buddy from his DEA days, a “gunman” named Felix.

Steakley has extremely readable prose with johh action scenes and hilarious gallows humor.

Halo and other games or movieswas still unique and intriguing. The character of main protagonist is pretty deep, and without too much spoiler, I can imagine the character development of this main character until the end.

After 19 drops on Banshee, Felix has learned that he is an almost unstoppable warrior. It almost takes on a life of its own, becoming something malignant and dehumanising. One of the characters in “Armor” agmor it best when she relates an anecdote from her past.
