Is gonna be back chld to verify up on new posts. The domestic lives of Erica and Patrik, as well as Erica’s sister Anna and her new partner Dan are also well-portrayed as Anna tries to come to terms with an exceptionally recalcitrant teenage stepdaughter and Erica discovers more about the tragedy of her mother’s past – and comes to realise the origin of her own name, perhaps.

BOOK REVIEW: THE HIDDEN CHILD BY CAMILLA LACKBERG – The Book Lover’s Boudoir

Want to Read saving…. You can follow my reviews at http: January – Book Sleuths Book Club. Gosto imenso da escrita da Camilla. The book opens a bit slow and all the while it felt like there’s no point of stretching such a good story for so long by withholding the secret which finally became very obvious midway through the story. Erica gets pretty frustrated with Patrik, not least when he meets his ex-wife who herself is chilld to look after her young son while her new husband, a racing driver, is away.

Paperbackpages. The characterisation in The Hidden Child was spot on. Cnild langer dan bij de voorgaande delen. Het duurde lang voordat ik echt in het verhaal zat. There was too much meandering and not enough action.

One of the themes here is the role of parenthood. It’s a page turner that holds you in its tight grip and you can’t put it down until after all secrets are laid bare. Another huge problem is the insanely precocious daughter of the main couple in the series.

I think this one along with The stonecutter are my 2 favourites! My only quibble is that far too many characters wink at each other – is this a Swedish habit? The mysteries in the book multiply when a woman with Alzheimer’s disease is killed and Elsy’s friends are curiously reluctant to talk about Elsy with her daughter, Erica.

BOOK REVIEW: THE HIDDEN CHILD BY CAMILLA LACKBERG

I found the characters more interesting than the mystery at the heart of the story, which turned out to be fairly ordinary and foreshadowed by the book’s title. There is plenty of byplay at the start of the novel as Patrick fails to “get” what is actually involved with looking after a one-year-old, and also cannot resist poking his nose into the investigation of the death of an old man which his colleagues are undertaking, baby in tow.

And I promise, there are some characters in the book which are going to stay with you long after the end of the story. A run on sentence but that’s what is going on more and more with each progressive Lackberg novel.

And it deals with the impact of world war 2. In addition, the lives of Patrick’s police colleagues come into the fore, with Gosta seeming to be a little more sensitive than his previous golfing obsession would suggest, and Melberg once again revealing a soft heart under his blustering exterior in an amusing subplot. Patrik Hedstrom has to only participate in this murder investigation on the fringe because he’s supposed to be on paternity leave.

I might have to stay Daarom heb ik het boek drie sterren gegeven. If you haven’t discovered Swedish crime sensation Camilla Lackberg yet, you are in for a treat.

Um, excuse me, you didn’t overreact; you had a totally normal reaction of a person who is entitled to do work like a human without your husband who is supposed to be the main caretaker at this point suddenly giving you the kid. There is also personal drama — a new baby, tensions at work, an ex-wife coming back. Refresh and try again.
