The plot of the book lacked the enigma which its prequel had. He carefully crafts the histories of each major character, including Sicily, which inspires the reader to consider those historical circumstances as the masters of personal fates and destinies. I wonder why this book isn’t famous as the Godfather.

Neither have I read enough stories in crime-genre to compare it against others of its kind. After having loved The Godfather, the first in Puzo’s Mafia series, I think there may have been a bit of the second novel blues here. The book ,unlike the Godfather ,has fewer characters,with each of them beautifully sculptured by Puzo’s brilliance. Personally, I found it distracting and unnecessary for them to have been in the book and I felt puzi would have been a far better book without them.

After years of hating the story because of my dad watching the films repeatedly, I have developed a bit of a passion for this series. It does feature cameo appearances suciliano Michael Corleone and Clemenza, but they are more to tie the story together than anything else. It’s too long, it’s overwritten and overdescribed, and tries to be “poetical”.

Though Puzo will be remembered for The Godfather a pjzo he himself regarded as ‘pulpy’The Sicilian bears testament that his other novels demand just as strong an interest.
