Sep 10, Noelle rated it it was ok Shelves: I didn’t love this one as much as the first book in the series because though I admired Beth’s views on the rights of women and the clever back and forth between her and Lucien, I thought their relationship was not as developed as I would have liked and their love was so suddenly declared and I didn’t feel it grow throughout the book.

There is some intrigue that occurs in the background with a bveerley slew of secondary characters, who keep things lively and bring with them unexpected turns of event.
Characters you can like, that’s the ticket, not this weird-almost-creepy relationship stuff Beverly puts out. I like to switch it up. But I found in the context of the whole novel, it fit. View all 13 comments. And Lucien and Beth really do their best to make their marriage fail, I have to admit.
Worse, she was a very well-drawn example of a smart person being their own worst enemy through unchallenged assumptions and arrogance. View all 4 comments. That is not my idea of romance.
In this series View all Book 3. The storyline started off in a promising manner but everything just flatlined for me when I found it impossible to like the MC’s.

I think Beverly tried to show that it wouldn’t happen again, by re-creating the circumstance and not having it happen, but I was still jumpy and suspicious about the future. I hardly ever skim An Unwilling Bride. I am interested in further books from this author, especially Nicolas and Elanor’s But, unwi,ling are a good match for each other.
